HobbyMatch ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information when you use HobbyMatch:

• Account information — your name, email address, location and age range when you create an account
• Profile information — your interests, hobbies, profile photo and cover photo
• Session data — hobby sessions you log including title, duration, rating, notes and photos
• Location data — approximate location used to find nearby venues (only when you grant permission)
• Usage data — how you interact with the app including features used and content viewed
• Device information — device type, operating system and push notification tokens

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and personalise the HobbyMatch service
• To generate hobby recommendations matched to your interests
• To show you nearby venues and clubs relevant to your hobbies
• To enable social features including following, likes and comments
• To send push notifications about activity from people you follow
• To improve the app through aggregated usage analytics
• To respond to support requests

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share your information only in these circumstances:

• With other users — your profile, interests and shared sessions are visible to other HobbyMatch users according to your privacy settings
• Service providers — we use Supabase for database and authentication, and Anthropic's Claude API for hobby matching. These providers process data on our behalf under strict data protection agreements
• Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely on Supabase servers located in the European Union. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest.

5. Location Data

Location access is used only to find nearby hobby venues and to auto-detect your location for your profile. We do not store your precise GPS coordinates. Location data is processed on-device and only the resulting city or area is stored.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data (available in the app under Account → Delete my account)
• Export your data
• Opt out of push notifications (available in Account → Notifications)
• Set your profile to private (available in Account → Private profile)

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

HobbyMatch is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of HobbyMatch after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
